For free-zone premises we arrange gate passes and work within permitted hours. Warehouse moves involve pallets, racking and bulk stock, which is our domestic cargo service rather than a household crew.

Silicon Oasis is a free zone with its own authority, and that authority, not a property developer, issues the move permit. Every move in or out needs one, whether it is a flat, a villa or an office. The application goes in online with the tenancy contract and Ejari, and it also needs the moving company's trade licence and the truck's registration. Approval usually takes 24 to 48 hours, so apply at least three days before the date.

The trade licence point catches people out. DSO security will not issue a permit against a freelance driver or an unlicensed pickup, so a cheap move booked that way can stall at the gate. We send our licence, vehicle and crew details for your application the day you confirm, and gate security then checks the plate and crew IDs against the permit.

DSO has two villa communities, Cedre Villas and Semmer Villas, with more than 1,600 homes between them. Cedre's villas run from three to six bedrooms and roughly 3,800 to 7,300 sq ft, in Arabic, modern and traditional styles, which puts the larger ones firmly in two-day territory: packing and protection on the first day, loading and placement on the second, with a ten-tonne truck or two vehicles for the biggest homes.

Both villa communities want a gate pass for the moving truck, arranged about 24 hours ahead once the DSOA permit is approved. Driveways and roads are generous, so a full-size vehicle can usually park at the door.

Most DSO residents live in apartments, from studios to three- and four-bedroom units in buildings such as Silicon Gates, Binghatti Point, Axis Residence and La Vista Residence. Each building runs its own loading bay and service lift, booked in advance, on top of the DSOA permit. A two-bedroom family flat is a one-day move with a three- or seven-tonne truck, depending on how much is in it.
